The School consistently prioritizes technological innovation as its core driving force, closely aligning with national strategic needs and cutting-edge disciplinary advancements to build a multidisciplinary integrated research system. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, significant progress has been made in basic research, applied technology development, and results transformation. The School has undertaken 106 national-level projects (including those under the National Natural Science Foundation of China and key R&D programs), published 1,808 high-level papers, and obtained 483 authorized patents (including 5 international patents and 368 invention patents). Total research funding has exceeded 700 million yuan. By deepening industry-academia-research collaboration and international exchange, research teams have established distinctive research directions in areas such as new energy vessels, low- and zero-carbon energy and energy storage, deep-sea mining, unmanned vessels and intelligent engine rooms, as well as advanced manufacturing and smart shipyards. These efforts provide key technological support for regional economic development and industrial upgrading.
