Han Muyu: Sailing from WUT to Explore the Frontiers of Excellence

Han Muyu, male, Han nationality, member of the Communist Party of China, is a 2022-level master’s student majoring in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at the School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Energy Power Engineering. He is the recipient of the "National Scholarship for Master’s Students of Wuhan University of Technology" for the 2023-2024 academic year. He has served as an assistant at the Graduate Work Department of the Party Committee of the university, director of the Graduate Dormitory Management Committee, and captain of the Fire Volunteer Service Team. He has been awarded honors such as "University-Level Merit Student" and "University-Level Outstanding Student Leader" multiple times.

Navigating the Sea of Learning – Striving to Be a Model Student

Han Muyu completed his undergraduate studies in Marine Engineering at the School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Energy Power Engineering. During his undergraduate years, he maintained a solid academic performance, ranking among the top in his grade. As a student in a maritime-related major, he persisted in daily physical exercise. He represented the university in the 5th Navigation Skills Competition, achieving excellent results, and participated in Chinese and English speech contests, enriching his college life. With a solid academic foundation and unremitting academic pursuit, he obtained the qualification for recommended admission to master’s studies with Grade A, continuing his studies at the college. During his three years of postgraduate study, he dedicated himself to academics, consistently ranking among the top. He has participated in over 5 research projects, published several high-level academic papers, been granted 2 national invention patents, and won 3 national-level, 1 provincial-level, and 5 university-level awards in research and innovation competitions. He has also received honors including the National Scholarship for Postgraduates, Xiaomi Scholarship, Classification Society Scholarship, and first-class academic scholarships for three consecutive years.

Han Muyu stated that his growth is inseparable from the long-term careful guidance of his supervisors, Professor Yang Zhiyong and Professor Liang Xingxin. With their help, he avoided many detours on his research path. The professors’ rigorous academic attitude and perseverance in exploration have deeply influenced him, enabling him to maintain the habit of reflecting and summarizing diligently when facing experimental failures, and always retaining the courage to take risks and strive for progress.

Under the careful guidance of his supervisors and the inspiration of the proactive exploration atmosphere in the laboratory team, Han Muyu has published 4 academic papers in the SCIE journal WEAR and been granted 2 national invention patents. He led his team in various academic competitions, promoting research through competition, and has won 3 national-level, 1 provincial-level, and 5 university-level awards.

Seeking Knowledge through Practice – Striving to Be a Model of Service

As a Communist Party member, the idea that "a Party member is a banner" is deeply rooted in Han Muyu’s mind. As an assistant at the Graduate Work Department of the Party Committee, he is responsible for addressing issues encountered by teachers and students in daily work and takes the initiative to help students solve problems. As a key cadre in the construction and management of graduate dormitories, he participates in a series of work including the integration of graduate dormitory resources, system formulation, and cultural construction across the university, actively building a communication bridge between students and university leaders, and has been widely recognized by teachers and students. He can also be seen busy in various Party member vanguard activities held by the university. The Graduate Dormitory Fire Volunteer Service Team led by him was awarded the title of "National Top 10 Outstanding Fire Service Team" in 2022 and "Provincial Top 10 Team" in 2023.
