The ISOPE conference is the largest peer-reviewed paper conference among similar technical conferences worldwide. The 35th International Offshore and Polar Engineering Conference (ISOPE-2025) focused on the theme "Sustainable Future of Oceans, Arctic and Energy", gathering top scholars, enterprise experts, and representatives from research institutions in the global marine engineering field. It conducted in-depth discussions on core topics such as polar engineering technology, intelligent fluid mechanics, renewable energy development, and marine ecological protection, with multiple special sessions including polar engineering equipment, marine engineering technology, environment and climate, underwater technology and new technologies.

The conference was held at KINTEX International Convention Center in Goyang, South Korea, with the agenda running from June 1 to June 6, 2025. It included 147 technical sessions and workshops with peer-reviewed papers and plenary sessions, as well as keynote speeches from more than 40 countries, including ISOPE professional seminars as part of ISOPE-2025. On June 1, Zhang Hanwen, a doctoral student from the School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Energy Power Engineering, went to Goyang, South Korea to attend ISOPE-2025.

On the morning of June 4, Dr. Zhang Hanwen, as the first author and presenter of the paper, successfully published and delivered an academic conference paper entitled "An Experimental Study on Soft Grounding of a Model Ship in Water Tank".

ISOPE-2025 provided a rare opportunity for face-to-face communication. During the conference, Dr. Zhang Hanwen had in-depth exchanges and discussions with outstanding peers, presented his research results, obtained feedback from international counterparts, and followed hot topics in various disciplines such as extreme environment engineering, intelligent control, new energy and new materials. Through extensive and in-depth exchanges with excellent research peers, mutual understanding was enhanced, and exchanges between graduate students of our college and outstanding researchers at home and abroad were promoted.
