In August, the 14th National Marine Vessel Design and Construction Competition and the 2nd Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Teaching Innovation Contest successfully concluded. Students from our university won 15 grand prizes, 27 first prizes, and 30 second prizes, while the faculty teaching team was awarded one grand prize, one first prize, and one second prize, respectively.

Launched in 2012 and co-organized by the China Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, among other institutions, the National Marine Vessel Design and Construction Competition has become the highest-level, largest-scale, and most comprehensive contest in the field of naval architecture and ocean engineering in China. This year’s edition integrated three categories: university student innovation competitions, faculty teaching innovation contests, and youth science outreach activities. It attracted nearly 400 institutions and over 3,000 teams from across the country, setting a new record in scale and further expanding the event's recognition and influence.

As a pilot school for the "Comprehensive Education Through Entire Process" reform initiative, the College has consistently adhered to the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education. It maintains an industry-oriented approach characterized by "strengthening both maritime and inland waterway disciplines, balancing river and ocean engineering, and integrating military-civilian development." By closely aligning with major national strategies such as "Transport Power" and "Marine Power," as well as the development needs of inland waterway transport, the College fully leverages its strengths in the National Key Discipline of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. It incorporates innovation education throughout the entire talent development process, continuously improving the quality of education. The outstanding achievements in this competition fully demonstrate the College’s significant results and distinctive features in talent cultivation. Moving forward, the College will further deepen reforms in its talent development mechanisms and innovation/entrepreneurship education, comprehensively enhance teaching quality, and provide outstanding talent and solid scientific and technological support for accelerating the building of a strong education system, advanced science and technology base, and a robust talent pool.
