On the evening of May 13, the 8th "Outstanding Class Monitor" Awards at Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) successfully concluded. Tang Jia, the class president of Energy & Power Engineering 2202, delivered a presentation titled "Planting the Seeds of ‘Motivational Energy’ in My Class", sharing how she invigorated her class with the dynamic spirit of a "marine engine." Through initiatives like the Marine Culture Festival and the Power Innovation Competition, she fostered a sense of solidarity and teamwork—embodied in the phrase "crossing the river in the same boat." Under the guidance of her homeroom teacher Yang Xiangguo, college advisor Su Xing, and counselor Wu Siyi, Tang Jia secured third place overall and was honored with the title of "Outstanding Class Monitor."

"A class monitor is a sower of seeds, and what I've sown is a force of motivation," Tang Jia declared during her speech. She believes this "motivational energy" is not merely a driving force but also a "possibility for growth." Her vision for Energy & Power Engineering 2202 is not just the strength of a single towering tree, but the thriving diversity of an entire forest. In her eyes, a truly outstanding class isn’t one where everyone competes to be the brightest flower, but where each individual grows toward the sun at their own pace, inspiring one another along the way.
Nurturing Growth: Letting the Class Become Fertile Soil
Faced with the challenges of a large class, heavy academic workloads, and diverse personalities, Tang proposed the philosophy that "every student is a seed." She shifted the focus of class management from "organizing activities" to "cultivating the soil"—fostering an environment where passive participation transforms into active growth. Her goal was to help every classmate find their own "value coordinates" within the collective.
Gathering Strength: Supporting Every Seed’s Growth
In her daily leadership, Tang prioritized companionship and encouragement. Whenever classmates proposed small ideas or spontaneous initiatives, she was quick to respond and refine them together. When a student expressed a desire to "do something for young patients," she helped develop the "Sunshine Station" volunteer project, which eventually launched at Wuhan Children’s Hospital. During exam periods, she joined student-led "study sprint groups," collaborating on difficult problems and compiling resources as a true "fellow traveler." She also organized community service events, themed discussions, and casual campus talks—strengthening class cohesion in "a silent, nurturing way" and transforming bystanders into active participants.
Converging Energies: Watching the Forest Thrive
Tang firmly believes that a class’s vitality comes from every member’s contributions. "Not every seed must grow into a towering tree," she said. "But as each reaches for the sun, together they form a forest." Her classmates excelled in research projects and competitions, winning awards at the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition and the National Energy Conservation & Emission Reduction Competition, among others. The class collectively earned 2 national-level awards, 15 provincial honors, 32 scholarship recipients, and 26 university commendations—a testament to their shared momentum.
Alongside her class, Tang also pursued excellence. She ranked first in her major for two consecutive years, earning the National Scholarship, "Model Student" honors, and the university’s May 4th Youth Medal. Her achievements include a national second prize in the 13th National Marine Vehicle Design Competition and a bronze medal in the 2024 China International College Students’ Innovation Competition, showcasing the well-rounded spirit of a WUT engineer.

Under the guidance and companionship of Class Monitor Tang Jia, Energy & Power Engineering Class 2202 has evolved beyond an academic community into a vibrant collective where young minds nurture and grow together. Through their daily dedication, they have transformed scattered sparks of potential into a sustained, dynamic force. Moving forward, they will continue to steer by their original aspirations, maintaining true course; with perseverance as their sail, they will gather momentum to brave the waves of youth's journey, charging steadfastly toward distant horizons.
