From July 21 to 25, the 21st International Conference on Mesoscopic Methods in Engineering and Science (ICMMES 2025) kicked off in Wuhan. Hosted by our university and organized by our college, the conference was co-organized by Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Ningbo East University of Technology, and Wuhan Supercomputing and Intelligent Computing Center. Over 100 scholars, researchers, and industry experts from around the world gathered to discuss the latest research findings and application progress of mesoscopic methods in engineering and science.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Zunhua, Chair of the Organizing Committee. Vice President Luo Rong delivered a speech on behalf of the host institution, while Professor Guo Zhaoli from Huazhong University of Science and Technology addressed the audience on behalf of the ICMMES International Academic Committee.

Following the opening ceremony, 5 senior experts and 14 outstanding young scholars from institutions including the University of Oxford, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Southern University of Science and Technology successively shared their latest research progress, presenting a splendid feast of knowledge to the participants. The conference featured 10 thematic parallel sessions and 103 presentations, including 5 plenary lectures, 14 invited talks, 68 oral presentations, and 16 posters. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing, algorithms and software, combustion and reactive flows, complex fluids, high-performance computing, gas kinetic theory, turbulence and rarefied flows, micro-nano scale flows, and multiphase flows.

The conference provided a broad platform for exchange and opportunities for cooperation to promote interdisciplinary integration in mesoscopic methods, foster scientific and technological breakthroughs and original innovations, and drive the vigorous development of advanced computational methods. Participants jointly explored key scientific issues and technical challenges in the field of mesoscopic methods, further promoting academic development and technological innovation in this area.
